Do you really know what your employees are thinking?

Portland Engagement have today launched HERO – a brand new concept in employee engagement.

HERO stands for Hear, Engage, React, Optimise. HERO is a unique tool that has been specifically developed to measure and assess employee and membership engagement which is pivotal to developing effective engagement strategies. Unlike traditional opinion survey tools, HERO examines your unconscious decision-making and reveals how employees and members really feel about an organisation.

HERO has been designed to show how elements of employee and membership engagement can be explored from a new perspective, based upon the key principles of employee values, wellbeing and reward and recognition. Responses generate a sentiment map covering five areas of focus; relationships, job demands, job control, support and job role.

Dr Jane Brearley, Partner, Portland Engagement said on the launch of the tool: “Portland is excited to launch HERO and move away from traditional staff surveys, which don’t always reveal a true picture. Our collaboration with behavioural psychologist Dr. Simon Moore and his team has been crucial to building a credible analysis tool. The prototype will give you a pulse check on your employees and uncover those areas that need exploring. This gives us a perspective from which we can work with clients to create an engagement strategy that reflects the needs of your employees.”

Oliver Pauley, UK Managing Director, Portland, also commented “HERO adds another dimension to Portland Engagement, one which will add value to our clients. The growth of Portland Engagement over the last year demonstrates the value placed on employee engagement and our clients’ desire for a fully integrated offering.”

Dr Simon Moore (BSc, PhD, CPsychol) commented “Emergent psychological research highlights that employee well-being is a significant factor in determining an organisation’s productivity, creativity and communications. Traditional techniques don’t always reveal the whole picture and companies do not get to the whole truth. We were excited to work with Portland to develop a unique well-being assessment tool that deploys non-conscious methods capturing the real factors that impact employee well-being – so that as psychologists we can then investigate them.”
