Taking the initiative
Jamie MacKenzie, Marketing Director at Sodexo Benefits and Reward Services, tells us about the company’s latest projects

When did you join Sodexo Benefits and Rewards Services and what are the key parts of your role?
After spending 10 years in a number of senior marketing roles, working with two of the world’s biggest consumer electronics companies, I decided in the summer of 2013 to move away from electronics and pursue opportunities within the services sector. The opportunity to join Sodexo Benefits and Rewards was presented to me and I was immediately hooked, given the growth ambitions of the company as well as the cultural and value fit. I joined the company in November 2013 and my key responsibilities include :
- The development of existing and new products and services
- Sodexo Benefits and Rewards Services’ communication strategy
- Managing Sodexo Benefits and Rewards Services’ branding and strategy in the UK
What initiatives are you currently working on?
We are working on a number of initiatives at the moment with a big focus on expanding and developing our propositions to the marketplace, spanning both our Employee Benefit and Incentive and Recognition offerings. In addition, we are looking to increase
our presence in the market through the promotion of our brand as a provider of wider benefits and reward services. All of these initiatives will be supported by awareness-orientated activities, as well as through publishing new, thought-provoking market research which we believe is extremely important to retain our position as thought leaders in this space.
Tell us about any recent or upcoming product launches
Our most exciting initiative and activity of late has been the launch of Money Boost in summer 2014; a unique employee benefit that encourages wellbeing, engagement and retention. Money Boost is a simple online money management tool that helps employees take control of their finances by allowing them to prioritise what is important to them, and giving them the discipline to reach their financial goals as their funds are automatically deducted at payroll. The launch of Money Boost has opened up a whole new stream of conversation with both new and prospective customers, meaning we now spend a lot of our time talking about financial wellbeing and how financial stress can affect employees in the workplace – something which we found to be alarmingly commonplace within today’s workforce. Aside from financial wellbeing, we’re continuing to heavily invest in our traditional Employee Benefit and Incentive and Recognition offerings. We have a number of exciting developments building in the pipeline which we hope to announce in the first few months of 2015.
