The Birmingham Conference & Events Centre (The BCEC), owned and operated by Cairn Group, has announced its dedicated venue team with three new appointments; Craig Bennett has joined the newly launched city centre venue as Venue Manager alongside Mark Begley as Venue Operations Manager and Adena Mignott as Venue Host. Craig Bennett, leading the team as Venue Manager, joins the venue from QHotels’ Stratford Hotel where he held the position of Operations Manager. Prior to this, Bennett worked at Sofitel London Heathrow T5, part of the Arora Group, as Meeting & Events Operations Manager during which he gained significant experience in the management and delivery of large scale meetings, events and conferences. Joining the team as Venue Operations Manager is Mark Begley who began his career at the Hilton Birmingham Bromsgrove and took his first managerial position as Conference & Banqueting Manager at Holiday Inn Birmingham Bromsgrove in 2008. Begley then moved to the Copthorne Merry Hill as Meetings & Events Operations Manager, before becoming Deputy General Manager at Jurys Inn, Cheltenham, from where he now joins The BCEC team. Completing the trio is Adena Mignott, who, as dedicated Venue Host, will act as the delegate’s first port of call when visiting the venue to ensure the team deliver a seamless event experience. Mignott has moved to the venue from her role as Commercial Events Assistant and Acting Coordinator at Birmingham City Council where she has worked for the last two years. Vincent Garrington, General Manager at The BCEC, comments, “I am thrilled that we have been able to bring together such a fantastic team with a wealth of experience and knowledge of the industry, each bringing their own skill set to the venue. Craig has the much needed large scale event experience required to manage The BCEC’s 2,000sqm dedicated venue space, whilst Mark joins with vast experience within the food and beverage industry, particularly banqueting, which is a key element to our offering. Adena brings a real enthusiasm and passion to the team and expert knowledge of the local events market, which is essential. Garrington continues; “From inception, building a dedicated venue service team was a key part of our strategy at The BCEC and I am delighted to have a specialist team now on board to deliver exceptional service that matches our first class facilities, whilst building long lasting relationships with our clients.” Situated just a minutes’ walk from the John Lewis Southside exit of Birmingham New Street mainline station, The BCEC is one of the best connected venues in the Midlands and just 1 hour 30 minutes from London. Owned and managed by Cairn Group, the BCEC is linked via a covered glass walkway to the company’s adjacent, 261 guestroom, Holiday Inn Birmingham City Centre. For larger bookings, the venue team has the ability to arrange accommodation with several other hotels across the city. Day Delegate Rates at The BCEC are priced from £50 ex VAT per person with an opening offer of £36 ex VAT per person for a limited time only.
