News UK Gift Card & Voucher Association appoints new director general The UK Gift Card and Voucher Association (UKGCVA), the trade body representing the key players in the £5.4 billion gift voucher, cards and stored value solutions market, today announced that it has appointed Gail Cohen as director general. Gail has more than 20 years of experience working across the public, private and non-profit sectors. Before joining the UKGCVA, Gail was director of marketing, communications and audiences for the British Film Institute (BFI) and responsible for developing and leading a new marketing and communications function responsible for repositioning the BFI, raising brand awareness and increasing engagement with the BFI and its products. Gail also re-designed and re-launched the BFI membership scheme achieving an increase in income and retention. Most recently, Gail was director of marketing, content and commercial development for Find a Future (The Skills Show) responsible for all aspects of the customer experience, from building The Skills Show brand and reach, to developing sponsorship and partnerships. Gail succeeds Andrew Johnson, who served as director general of the Association for more than nine years. Earlier this year Andrew was honoured with the annual UKGCVA’s Lifetime Achievement Award and named to the organisation’s Hall of Fame by a vote of its members. Gail Cohen, director general of UKGVCA, comments: “This role provides me with the opportunity to represent a fast-moving and high growth sector, based on a strong understanding of what our members value, and what other opportunities the UKGCVA can provide for members, the industry and consumers. “Andrew and I are working closely together to ensure an effective and smooth transition. He has been an extremely supportive fount of knowledge. Andrew has years of experience and has done an excellent job in leading the UKGCVA. He is passionate about the industry and the organisation and continues to be an active member of the Association. “My main objective is to ensure that we continue to operate a professional, beneficial and valuable organisation, whilst working on our plans for the future.
