Employee engagement expert, WorkBuzz, has appointed Spence Knudson as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to help the company to scale-up after securing a further investment of £1.5m. Spence is WorkBuzz’s first CFO, joining at a key time to drive growth. With annual recurring revenues (ARR) more than doubling over the last 12 months, Spence will work with the Board to help deliver the company’s ambitions of growing WorkBuzz’s presence in the UK and internationally. “I will be driving growth and supporting as the business scales, with the goal to help WorkBuzz’s employee engagement platform enter new markets and expand in existing ones,” says Spence Knudson. Spence has over thirty years’ experience in finance and business leadership, including supporting start-ups and venture capitalist (VC) backed businesses. In 2013, he led a management buy-out and became CEO of Key Travel, a specialist travel company. Following its sale in 2018, Spence pursued a portfolio CFO career before deciding to join WorkBuzz. Spence Knudson says, “WorkBuzz has great growth potential, a passionate leader in Steven Frost, and an advanced employee engagement platform. With its comprehensive data-driven insights, ease of use and flexibility, the platform is attracting attention from global HR and business leaders, and I’m excited to be supporting WorkBuzz’s next stage of growth.” Steven Frost, CEO of WorkBuzz, adds, “It’s such an exciting time to partner with HR leaders – delivering a great employee experience is the only sustainable way to win the war for talent. In the space of 18 months, we will be increasing our headcount five-fold and having a very seasoned CFO alongside me, will help us stay focused and scale efficiently.” WorkBuzz’s recent £1.5m injection of funding, comes from its existing backers, Mercia and Foresight, which were both investing from the Midlands Engine Investment Fund (MEIF), alongside funding from private investors.
